About me

Hey everyone! My name is João Lucas Oliveira Silva, a junior at Harvard double-concentrating in Computer Science and Government (Political Science). In my Government concentration, I focus on Political Economy and War Theory. I am originally from Mococa, São Paulo, Brazil, but I was born in Minas Gerais.

In college, my focus has shifted through different lenses. In Computer Science, I interned as a software engineer at BTG Pactual, the largest investment bank in Latin America, working on the IT Clients & Finance Team with DevOps operations. During my 2026 summer internship at Stavias, I led the Innovation Team building Córtex, combining knowledge engineering, machine learning, and full-stack experience to build an offline-first operational platform for construction management.

In Government, I have researched the impact of LLMs and AI models on the 2024 São Paulo elections, and the correlation between the deployment of autonomous weapons and divergence theory. I hope to specialize in how top-tier technology will impact elections, democracy, and war in the future.

I also have research experience at the Harvard Weatherhead Center for International Affairs and web development volunteering at Brave Behind Bars and TEJI@MIT. Currently, I am building Angico, a gov-tech startup selected for LALA Start as part of a seed-capital program. This is the first edition of the program led by Latin American Leadership Academy (LALA) and Bloomberg.

In my free time, I love running, reading, and checking the latest news about Brazilian politics on G1.
